•  Tips and Features

Introduction: NASS TeamSpeak Voice Chat hosting provides chat facilities for teammates, a NASS race control channel, and a private Race administrator feature. To participate all one has to have is a headset/microphone and the free client software. Follow the steps below to get started.

Client Download: The client software and other information is available at http://www.goteamspeak.com . From the homepage, click the Downloads link and obtain the Windows TeamSpeak 2 Win32 Client (RC2). The version of this writing is ver:2.0.32.60 and it is approximately 6MB.

Install client: Installation is as simple as running the double clicking the download.

Client Configuration :
•  Open the TeamSpeak client program.
•  From the menu, choose Connection > Connect
•  In the text fields supply the following values:
Label = NASSCAR (you can put whatever you want here)
Server Address = 69.28.242.210:8768
Nickname = Whatever name you put here will be displayed to other users. We suggest you use your real name.
Anonymous vs. Registered = Click the Anonymous radio button.
Note> Registered is for server administrators.
Server Password: = lugnut

•  Auto Reconnect is optional.
•  Default Channel = This does not have to be set but if you're going to set it we recommend the NASSCAR LOBBY channel
•  Default Subchannel = leave blank
•  Channel Password = leave blank

Channels:
When you log into TeamSpeak for the first time you will notice multiple channels listed. The default channel is the NASSCAR LOBBY. Having separate channels provide drivers and administrators the ability to find private places to chat with others. The current configuration allows each participant to go to any channel except for the Race Officials channel.

The driver garages are designed for team members to find a space to communicate to each other. There should be enough garages for teams to find a separate garage for race communications. Do note however that there is nothing stopping another competitor from joining a garage. If you are not a member of a team or wish to join a common garage with others there is a Common Garage for just that purpose.

Tips and Features:
•  TeamSpeak has the ability to assign a keyboard key for different functions. Being able to assign a key allows you for example to switch from a team garage to the Race Control Channel and back. For those that use voice command programs, such as Game Commander, this can be programmed via a voice command. To implement such a command choose the Settings > Key Settings menu option in the client software. You'll also find other features such as whispering to another player directly and more.

•  The Settings menu option is also where you can control sound options and other settings. Choose Settings> Sound Input/Output Settings to assign the keyboard key for 'push to talk' or voice activated chatting. This menu option is also where you adjust the microphone/speaker adjustments. Note that in testing several of us experienced low microphone input when Game Commander was started. It apparently lowered the Windows microphone volume and you may have go into the sound control in Control Panel and up the microphone.

•  There are a myriad of settings for the client and the server components of TeamSpeak. In Settings > Options you can make adjustments for sound quality, latency, and other features. We encourage you to make yourself familiar with what the client can do.

•  There is a software program called Joy-To-Jey that allows you to correlate buttons on your steering device to keys. This program allows you to use your steering wheel buttons to push to talk for multiple chat programs (for example TeamSpeak and the aforementioned Game Commander). This program is fairly easy to configure but and you'll probably set it up once and then won't have to mess with it again. The program can be downloaded from here.

We are interested in hearing of any problems or concerns. If you have any questions or problems please send an e-mail to the race administrator. There is a contact us link at the bottom of the home page. Please understand that problems on race day related to TeamSpeak are probably not going to get addressed. We hope you understand that there's going to be too much going. Try it early and don't wait until the last moment!
